Packing List

Be prepared for all of Peru's conditions

What to pack in your suitcase?

Packing for Peru requires versatility. You'll go from the jungle's humidity to the Andes' cold in a matter of hours.

Layering Clothing

The key is flexibility. Here are the basics for the highlands (Cusco):

  • Base Layer: Synthetic or merino wool t-shirts (quick-drying).
  • Thermal Layer: A lightweight fleece or polar jacket for mornings and nights.
  • Outer Layer: A high-quality waterproof jacket or windbreaker.
  • Pants: Comfortable trekking pants (avoid jeans for hikes).

Footwear and Accessories

Your feet are your motor on this trip, take good care of them:

  • Trekking Boots: Waterproof and with good grip. Make sure you've broken them in before the trip.
  • Comfortable Sneakers: For walking through cities and resting your feet.
  • Sun Protection: Wide-brimmed hat, UV protection sunglasses, and sunscreen (minimum SPF 50).
  • Daypack: A 20-30 liter backpack for water, snacks, and your camera.

Technology Essentials

Don't forget these technical details to stay connected and charged:

  • Adapters: Peru uses type A and C plugs. The voltage is 220V.
  • Power Bank: Essential for long tour days where there are no nearby outlets.
  • Camera and Memory Cards: You will take thousands of photos, make sure you have enough space.
  • Dry Bags: To protect your electronics from unexpected rain in the Andes or the jungle.
