Classic Inca Trail Adventure
The Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a journey through history, nature, and personal achievement. Over four days and three nights, you'll trek 42 kilometers (26 miles) through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Andes, passing through cloud forests, high mountain passes, and ancient Inca ruins.
This legendary trek takes you along the same stone paths used by the Incas centuries ago, culminating in your arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate at sunrise on the final day. With professional guides, porters to carry camping equipment, and delicious meals prepared by skilled cooks, you can focus entirely on the experience while we handle the logistics.

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Cusco hotel. Travel by private bus through the Sacred Valley towards Ollantaytambo.
Stop for a hearty breakfast in Ollantaytambo to fuel up for the day ahead. Final chance to use modern facilities and purchase any last-minute supplies.
Arrive at KM 82 (Piscacucho), the official starting point of the Inca Trail. Complete registration with park authorities, meet your porters and trekking team, and begin your journey into history.
Trek along the Urubamba River valley with stunning views of the snow-capped Veronica peak (5,750m). Visit the Inca ruins of Llactapata and learn about its agricultural and ceremonial importance.
Enjoy a freshly prepared hot lunch at Tarayoc. Your porters and cook will have set up a comfortable dining tent with tables and chairs.
Continue trekking through eucalyptus forests and small Andean villages. The trail gradually ascends as you approach Wayllabamba, meaning "grassy plain" in Quechua.
Arrive at your first campsite at Wayllabamba. Your tent will already be set up. Enjoy afternoon tea with snacks, followed by a delicious dinner. Briefing about Day 2 before retiring to your tent.

Wake up to coca tea delivered to your tent. Enjoy a hot breakfast to prepare for the most challenging day of the trek—ascending to Dead Woman's Pass.
Begin the steep 1,200-meter climb through changing ecosystems—from cloud forest to high-altitude puna. Take your time, walk at your own pace, and remember: "pole pole" (slowly slowly).
Reach the highest point of the Inca Trail! Celebrate your achievement with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Andean peaks. This is a major milestone—you've conquered the hardest part of the trek.
Descend steep stone steps into the beautiful Pacaymayo Valley ("hidden river" in Quechua). The descent is knee-challenging but rewards you with stunning valley views.
Enjoy a well-deserved hot lunch at the Pacaymayo Valley campsite, surrounded by towering mountains and the sound of rushing streams.
Arrive at camp early today to rest after the challenging day. Enjoy afternoon tea, dinner, and a well-deserved early night's sleep in this peaceful mountain valley.

Wake up refreshed and enjoy breakfast before embarking on the most archaeologically rich day of the trek—you'll visit three spectacular Inca sites today.
Climb to the circular ruins of Runkurakay, believed to be a tambo (rest stop) for Inca travelers. Explore the well-preserved structures with panoramic mountain views.
Cross the second pass of the trek (3,950m / 12,959ft), then descend into lush cloud forest. Walk through ancient Inca tunnels carved from solid rock.
Visit the impressive Sayacmarca ruins perched dramatically on a cliff edge. This complex features semicircular buildings, plazas, and ceremonial structures with stunning valley views.
Enjoy a gourmet lunch prepared by your trek chef. Marvel at your surroundings as you refuel for the afternoon's adventures.
Arrive at Phuyupatamarca, one of the most beautiful Inca sites along the trail. Explore six ceremonial baths fed by natural springs and admire the breathtaking cloud-covered mountain vistas.
Descend hundreds of steep stone steps through subtropical jungle. Watch for orchids, hummingbirds, and possibly the elusive Andean spectacled bear.
Arrive at your final campsite near the spectacular Wiñay Wayna ruins ("Forever Young"). After settling into camp, visit this magnificent site featuring agricultural terraces and ceremonial temples. Enjoy a celebratory dinner—tomorrow you'll reach Machu Picchu!

Very early wake-up to reach the Sun Gate for sunrise. Enjoy a light breakfast before the final stretch of your journey.
Line up at the checkpoint for the 5:00 AM opening. Be among the first groups to reach the Sun Gate and witness Machu Picchu's reveal.
Begin the final 1-hour hike to the Sun Gate, the ancient entrance to Machu Picchu. Trek through misty cloud forest as anticipation builds.
Arrive at the Sun Gate for your first magical glimpse of Machu Picchu as the rising sun illuminates the ancient citadel. This is the moment you've been trekking towards—an unforgettable, emotional experience.
Descend the final section of the Inca Trail into Machu Picchu. Enter through the House of the Guardian for the classic postcard photo opportunity.
Begin your comprehensive 2-hour guided tour of the citadel. Learn about the temples, royal quarters, agricultural terraces, ceremonial areas, and the theories surrounding this Lost City of the Incas.
After the guided tour, enjoy free time to explore on your own, take photographs, and simply absorb the powerful energy of this sacred place. Optional: climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if pre-booked.

Inca Trail permits sell out 6 months in advance, especially for peak season (May-September). Book as early as possible. Permits are non-transferable and require passport details at booking.
