Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the maximum group size for shared tours?
Our shared tours are operated with groups of up to 12 travelers to ensure a quality experience. Private tours are exclusive to your group.
Is the Rainbow Mountain trek dangerous?
The trek is challenging due to the high altitude (5,020m), but it is not technically dangerous. We mitigate risks by providing emergency oxygen and a first-aid kit, and we require guests to be properly acclimatized.
How early is the pick-up for Machu Picchu?
The pick-up is very early, typically between 3:40 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., depending on your hotel's location and the train's departure time. This early start is necessary to make the most of the full-day itinerary.
Is the entrance to Huayna Picchu included?
No, the entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain is not included. These tickets must be booked several months in advance. Please let us know if you wish to add this, and we can check availability.
What type of luggage can I bring during the tour?
We recommend bringing a medium or small backpack with essential items. At Machu Picchu, if you have larger luggage, you may leave it at the entrance and collect it at the end, or coordinate with your guide regarding where and how to store your belongings during the visit.
Are there any age restrictions for this tour?
We recommend this tour for participants aged 8 and above due to the altitude and amount of walking. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
What happens if I miss the return train due to an unforeseen event?
We always recommend travel insurance. Train tickets cannot be reprogrammed within 24 hours of departure, so you would need to purchase a new ticket (either in Aguas Calientes or from Cusco). As your agency, we will provide all necessary assistance to manage the situation.
Can I choose the circuit or entry time for Machu Picchu?
No, the circuit cannot be chosen. However, depending on ticket availability at the time of your booking, we prioritize purchasing the most complete entry ticket. The entry times we offer start from 8:00 a.m. Your assigned entry time will be coordinated beforehand. If you already have your ticket, you must indicate this in your reservation. We recommend checking official availability at: https://tuboleto.cultura.pe/
Are there meal options for specific diets (vegetarian, vegan, etc.)?
Yes, but you must communicate your dietary requirements at least 48 hours in advance so the restaurant can prepare a suitable alternative.
Is the tour suitable for people with reduced mobility?
It is not recommended. The tour involves walking on uneven stone paths and steps with steep slopes. If you have a medical condition, please inform us when booking to evaluate possible adaptations.
What should I do if I get separated from the group during the group tour?
On group tours, your guide will provide you with an emergency contact number at the start. If you get lost, call that number immediately or head to a main exit or the park ranger's post for assistance.
