2-Day Itinerary

A Leisurely Journey to the Lost City of the Incas

Your journey begins early in the morning with a hotel pickup in Cusco and a scenic transfer to Ollantaytambo train station, passing through the beautiful Sacred Valley. From there, you'll board a comfortable tourist train bound for Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Town. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the Urubamba River and the changing landscapes as you descend from the Andes into the lush cloud forest.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our local guide will welcome you and escort you to your hotel for check-in. Later, you'll have lunch (not included) and the afternoon free to explore this charming town at your own pace. You can stroll through the artisan markets, visit the local museum, or relax in the natural hot springs that give the town its name.

In the evening, enjoy dinner on your own, followed by a briefing with your guide to review the details of the next day's visit to Machu Picchu. Rest well — tomorrow, one of the world's greatest wonders awaits you.

After an early breakfast, you'll board the first bus to Machu Picchu to witness the sunrise over the citadel before the crowds arrive. Your expert guide will lead you through a two-hour tour of the most significant areas, including the Temple of the Sun, the Main Square, and the agricultural terraces. Learn about the engineering genius and spiritual significance of this Inca masterpiece as you explore its timeless stone structures.

Once the guided tour concludes, you'll have free time to explore on your own — take more photos, meditate in the quiet surroundings, or simply enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the Andean mountains. Later, descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch at your leisure before the return trip.

In the afternoon, board the train back to Ollantaytambo while admiring the last views of the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, a private transfer will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 p.m. This marks the end of a truly unforgettable journey to the heart of the Inca Empire — a day filled with culture, history, and wonder.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What happens if I miss the return train due to an unforeseen event?
We always recommend travel insurance. Train tickets cannot be reprogrammed within 24 hours of departure, so you would need to purchase a new ticket (either in Aguas Calientes or from Cusco). As your agency, we will provide all necessary assistance to manage the situation.
Can I choose the circuit or entry time for Machu Picchu?
No, the circuit cannot be chosen. However, depending on ticket availability at the time of your booking, we prioritize purchasing the most complete entry ticket. The entry times we offer start from 8:00 a.m. Your assigned entry time will be coordinated beforehand. If you already have your ticket, you must indicate this in your reservation. We recommend checking official availability at: https://tuboleto.cultura.pe/
Are there meal options for specific diets (vegetarian, vegan, etc.)?
Yes, but you must communicate your dietary requirements at least 48 hours in advance so the restaurant can prepare a suitable alternative.
Is the tour suitable for people with reduced mobility?
It is not recommended. The tour involves walking on uneven stone paths and steps with steep slopes. If you have a medical condition, please inform us when booking to evaluate possible adaptations.
What should I do if I get separated from the group during the group tour?
On group tours, your guide will provide you with an emergency contact number at the start. If you get lost, call that number immediately or head to a main exit or the park ranger's post for assistance.
