🌈 A Journey to the Rainbow in the Heights of the Andes
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 5:00 a.m. We will travel south through the Vilcanota Valley, passing small Andean villages surrounded by potato and quinoa fields, until we reach Pitumarca (3,700 m / 12,139 ft). Here, you’ll enjoy a buffet breakfast and a short briefing about the route and altitude.
We continue our journey toward Pampachiri (4,600 m / 15,092 ft), the starting point of the hike. From here, the ascent begins along a path that reveals the high Andean ecosystem — herds of alpacas and llamas, pristine air, and wide views of the Vilcanota mountain range. This region is home to the Apu Ausangate, one of the most sacred peaks in the Andean cosmovision, symbol of protection and fertility for local communities.
After approximately two hours of gradual ascent, we will reach Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain (5,200 m / 17,060 ft). The vivid natural colors of its slopes — created by mineral sedimentation over millions of years — form a truly unique landscape. From the top, you can also appreciate the surrounding Red Valley, whose ochre and crimson tones create an extraordinary contrast against the snow-capped peaks.
You will have time to rest, take photographs, and enjoy the magnificent Andean scenery. Then we begin our descent back to Pampachiri, where our vehicle awaits. On the way back, we stop again in Pitumarca for a buffet lunch, before returning to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 p.m.

Amazing Trek with Sergio!
We had such a fantastic experience with Sergio on the Salkantay trek! His deep respect for Pachamama really shone through and helped us to connect with the land we walked. He led us in guided meditation and offerings to Pachamama at different points along the trek, allowing us to slow down and fully absorb the energy around us. Thank you Sergio for an amazing experience, you made it truly unforgettable.

A wonderful trek with Sergio!
Sergio is a wonderful guide! We went on the 5 day/4 night Sallantay trek with him and it was an amazing experience. We were on a group tour and right away he made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable with one other, and it made the journey all the better to be hiking with our “trail family”. He shared Inca history with us and showed us some local customs as well—we particularly enjoyed the stories about the coca leaves as well as his deep respect for the Pachamama (Mother Earth). It was apparent from day one that Sergio’s main goal for the entire trek was to make sure everyone enjoyed the experience and he definitely delivered. He made sure to point out items of interest along the trail and had answers ready for questions anyone had, and even organized an impromptu soccer game at one of the rest areas! Machu Picchu is incredible on its own, but once we arrived it was soon clear that the experience was made even better by having Sergio guide us through the ruins and explain the history and architecture to us. We had some varying fitness levels in our group, but Sergio was able to make the whole group feel included for the entire trek. His style of guiding allowed everyone to hike at their own pace while still feeling like they were safe and part of the guided group through his in-depth knowledge of the trail system and strategic waiting/meet-up points on the trail. In addition to his guiding skills, Sergio is really just a cool guy and we immensely enjoyed chatting with him on the trails and hanging out with him at the campsites each night. I absolutely recommend Sergio as a guide to anyone visiting Cusco or the surrounding area—you will not regret it!

Amazing Backpacking Trip – Highly Recommend Sergi!
We did an overnight backpacking trip through the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu with our guide, Sergi, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. My boyfriend and I went with four of our best friends, and Sergi made the entire journey seamless, comfortable, and so enjoyable. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the trail, the history, and the area, which made the trek even more meaningful. One of our friends experienced altitude sickness during the hike, and Sergi was so thoughtful and attentive. He not only made sure they were safe but also arranged horses so they could continue the journey and not miss out. That level of care really stood out to us.Throughout the trip, Sergi was kind, patient, and always made sure we were comfortable. Everything was well organized, and we always felt supported. This trek was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide.I would highly recommend Sergi to anyone considering this trip—he truly went above and beyond to make it an incredible and memorable experience.
