The lake sits at 4,200m (13,780 ft). We recommend spending at least 2 days in Cusco (3,400m) before this hike. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and try coca tea to help adjust.
The hike is moderate difficulty about 5km round trip with 300m elevation gain. Good general fitness is recommended. If you struggle, horses are available for rental on site.
Weather can change quickly at high altitude. Expect cool temperatures (5-15°C) and possible rain. Best season is April-October (dry season). Bring layers!
We pick you up early, so have a light snack before. Breakfast is included in Mollepata. Avoid heavy meals and alcohol the night before to help with altitude.
Pickup is around 4:30 AM it's early but worth it! This timing ensures we reach the lake before crowds and have the best weather and light for photos.

The best prevention is acclimatizing in Cusco for 2-3 days, staying hydrated, and avoiding alcohol. Coca tea and candy help.
